This Sunday we listen to the story of Naaman’s healing, 2 Kings 5:1-15a. Worship will be a contemplative service and include communion.

My schedule this week: I’ll leave tomorrow morning for a long weekend out-of-town (to visit the Rothko Chapel) with several friends.

Worship planning. If you’re willing to be part of the worship planning for the Season of Epiphany (Jan 8-Feb 19), please let me know.

Women, please mark your calendar for the Nov 15th Bible Study, 10 am at the church.  We have a guest, Dorothy Yoder Nyce, who is planning to lead us for our final study on the book of Ruth.  She previously wrote a musical on Ruth and will talk about that and choose several songs for us to sing.   You are welcome and especially invited to come even if you have not been a regular attendee to this Bible study group.

Emerge Ministries is experiencing some unexpected expenses: need for 3 new appliances and need for personal care items. In response, FOH is contributing an additional $200 to Emerge. If you want to contribute, directly giving to Emerge is an option or make a gift through FOH with Emerge on the memo line of your check.

The time and day of week is to be determined depending on group members’ schedules. We will use Light of the World: A Beginner’s Guide to Advent by Amy-Jill Levine as our guide, but reading the book is not required to participate. If you are interested please complete this form by Saturday, November 12! https://forms.gle/i3fi9wgFCsHpjHMDA This book study is being hosted by the Mennonite Jewish Relations Working Group (MJR), formed as an outgrowth of the 2017 resolution passed by delegates at the MCUSA conference in Orlando, FL entitled “Seeking Peace in Israel and Palestine: A Resolution for Mennonite Church USA.” We are pastors, scholars, and laypeople, partnering with other justice organizations through Mennonite Church USA (MCUSA) to assist the denomination in fulfilling its commitments to opposing antisemitism and attending to right relationships between diverse Mennonite and Jewish communities.
