This Sunday we hear from the prophet Micah: Micah [1:3-5]; 5:2-5a; 6:6-8

November 17 congregational conversation.

The agenda for the meeting:

-Transitional pastor recommendation. We have a candidate! The elders are enthusiastic about recommending this person. On Sunday, Dave will share the name of the person and at the meeting we’ll take time to hear your responses.

-2023 Spending Plan. The Finance Group has drafted a spending plan for next year. There are spending implications for the new pastor, so the FG would like to hear back from the congregation sooner rather than later.-Introducing the Credence proposal. At the meeting we’ll introduce the proposal. While elders had hoped (assumed) taking action at the November meeting, the above items seem (to elders) more urgent. And adding a 3rd, big item would be too much. Copies of the proposal will be available at the meeting. The congregation will discern the Credence proposal at the December 15 conversation.

Transitional tasks

At the elders meeting this on Wednesday, Suella brought a list of tasks that she’s been doing that don’t necessarily fall into her job description. We don’t expect the transitional pastor to do them. So it is up to us to pick them up, or set them aside. If you’re willing to take responsibility for one (or more!) of the items below, please let one of the elders know.

-Email announcements, including distributing group minutes

-Formatting, printing, and copying bulletins

-Listening to phone messages

-Updating directory

-Congregational files: Suella has been keeping electronic copies of groups’ notes. (The collection is incomplete.)

-Worship schedule

Women’s Bible Study Tuesday, the 15th, 10 am at the church. Dorothy Yoder Nyce will join us, leading us for our final study on the book of Ruth. She previously wrote a musical on Ruth and will talk about that and choose several songs for us to sing.   You are welcome and especially invited to come even if you have not been a regular attendee to this Bible study group.

From Finance Group:When considering where to share financially, consider the following:Evra’s travel cost to see his parents in Angola and other family in the Congo during May 2023. Getting the ticket by the beginning of December is recommended so the flight cost does not increase.  You can make your donation through the church now or give an IOU with the intent to give the funds in the next month or three.
